This year's ornament is the Royal Theater. The Royal Theater has been a staple in Archer City since 1926 and has served in various roles. It was a movie theater until it shuttered its doors in 1965. However, it took on a new life when author Larry McMurtry highlighted it in "The Last Picture Show" and backdrop for the 1971 film. The building was renovated in 2000 and has been a live music venue since then, continuing to bring joy and life to Archer City.
